Mulch Spreading

$65 /man/hour

Since every project is different, we offer an hourly spreading rate for first time spreading clients, which will include one-way travel and project set up. We will take notes and utilize this information to calculate a per yard price for your future projects. Please note that every mulch spreading job is different, and it’s difficult for us to provide an exact cost upfront because no two properties are the same. Factors like the distance from the truck to the spreading location and the nature of the work—whether it's hand-spreading around plants or light raking in open areas—can all affect the time required. We’re happy to establish a not-to-exceed budget, that includes travel and setup, and our crew will work efficiently to complete as much of the project as possible within your approved budget.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Mulch

How much mulch should I order?

A general guideline is 3 inches of mulch depth for most landscape beds. For mulch, 1 cubic yard covers approximately 100 square feet at a 3" depth. For pine Straw, each bale covers approx. 35 square feet.

To calculate the amount of mulch needed, measure your bed length x width for total square footage then divide by the coverage rate of 100 sq ft for a 3" depth.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes, for products we manufacture in house (mixed wood chips and mixed triple shred) we offer free delivery with a minimum order of 10 cubic yards delivered within a 10 mile radius of our mulch site, 15 cubic yards within 15 miles, or 20 cubic yards within 20 miles. Our site is located at 2816 Tryon Road in Raleigh. Our trucks can hold 22 cu yds of mulch.

Can I pick up mulch at your site?

Yes, our Lineberger exclusive mulches are available for pick up with a 2 yard minimum. Pick up is by appointment only and must be scheduled in advance to ensure that someone will be available to load your product.

How quickly can you deliver?

Delivery times vary by season, but most deliveries are scheduled within a few business days. Spring is our busiest time, so we recommend ordering early. We do not deliver on weekends.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

You do not need to be home as long as delivery instructions have been arranged ahead of time. We invoice after the delivery has been completed and you will have convenient electronic options for submitting payment.

Do you offer mulch spreading as well?

Yes! We offer professional mulch spreading services. Ask about adding spreading when requesting your delivery quote.

Where will the mulch be dumped?

Mulch is typically dumped in a driveway or another accessible, hard surface area. Please let us know in advance if you have a preferred placement location, a steep or narrow driveway, or any tree branches that may impede the dump truck from lifting. Our drivers will use their discretion regarding where the load can safely be dumped.

We deliver throughout Raleigh and surrounding communities. If you’re unsure whether you’re in our delivery area, just ask—we’re happy to confirm.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, ACH, or credit card payments. Credit card payments will have a 3% convenience fee. Payment details will be provided with your quote.
